My buddy at the MARTA stop made me rethink how I pack my lunch
I was waiting for the bus at Five Points last Tuesday, and this guy I see sometimes noticed my thermal bag. He said I was probably killing the insulation by stuffing it too full, and that it needs air space to work right. I always just crammed everything in there like a Tetris game. Now I leave a little room and my sandwich actually stays cold till afternoon. Anybody else screw up simple stuff like that for years without realizing it?

Oh man, I did the exact same thing with my lunch bag for way too long. I used to pack it so tight that the ice pack was basically wedged against everything with no room for cold air to move around. Then one day I noticed my yogurt was getting lukewarm by noon and I couldn't figure out why. Turns out I was basically suffocating the insulation too. Now I leave a little breathing room and my stuff actually stays cold like it's supposed to. Its one of those dumb little things you think you know how to do but you really don't until someone points it out.

Honestly most people just never question small habits once they're set.

Oh man, this is way too real! I had the same thing with my coffee thermos. Used to screw the lid on so tight I thought it was helping. Then I realized I was basically vacuum-sealing it and the heat had nowhere to go. @mary_foster92 nailed it - I stopped cramming the lid down and my coffee actually stayed hot for hours instead of lukewarm by lunch.
