Neighbor told me my lawn was scalped too short

Been cutting my Bermuda at 1 inch for years. She showed me the burn marks and I bumped it up to 2 inches. Anyone else get called out by a neighbor?

Got scalped bad one summer. Bermuda doesn't like being cut that low in the heat. You gotta watch the shade lines. 2 inches is good but make sure you're not cutting more than a third of the blade at a time. That's what causes the burn. Water deeper and less often too. Your neighbor might have saved you from killing the whole lawn.

Does @robinson.hannah think this rule still applies with newer drought-resistant Bermuda blends?

Don't you think cutting Bermuda at 1 inch is just asking for trouble in the summer heat? I learned the hard way when my lawn turned brown and patchy after a July cut at that height. My neighbor never said a word, but the bare spots told the whole story. Raising it to 2 inches and watering less often but deeper made all the difference. Your neighbor did you a real favor, even if it stung a little at first.
