Paid for a parking spot near the Fox Theatre and still got a $75 ticket

I bought a spot through an app for a show last month, cost me $25 for two hours. The sign was confusing and my spot was actually in a loading zone after 7pm. The ticket officer said the app doesn't override city rules. Some friends say the apps are a scam, others say you just have to read the tiny print. Has anyone found a reliable way to park downtown without this hassle?

You said the sign was confusing and that's the whole game now, isn't it? It's like they make the rules impossible to read on purpose. My cable bill is the same way, pages of tiny print fees. Or trying to unsubscribe from anything online. They're betting you won't take the time to figure it out, and they're usually right.

Man, you're totally right. I used to think people just didn't read the fine print, but my last gym membership changed my mind. They had a whole separate webpage for cancellation that you could only find through a link in an email receipt. It's absolutely a design choice to hide things.

Patriciah51 nails it with "betting you won't take the time." That's exactly it. For me, what finally worked with my old phone plan was just calling them and being super direct. I said "I want to cancel, what's the exact process?" and wrote down every step they gave me. Took maybe 10 minutes but they couldn't hide behind a confusing website when I had them on the phone. Saved the notes too, in case they tried something later. Your mileage may vary but sometimes the old fashioned way still cuts through all that nonsense.
