i mean "hooked me up" could mean anything. like did he give you a half decent set of used tires for a fair price or did he just not rob you blind? selling tires out of a van is sketchy enough that i'd be checking those things for dry rot and making sure they hold air for more than a week. plus if you ever need to warranty them good luck finding that guy again.

Whoa, it's not that deep. They probably work fine and worst case you're out the cost of some cheap tires, not a house payment.

Check the date code on the sidewall before you hand over cash. If they're more than six years old don't buy them.
