Shoutout to the MARTA bus driver who saved my morning yesterday

I was running late for a job interview over in Buckhead, already 10 minutes behind and my car was acting up. I hopped on the 39 bus near my place in Decatur, and this driver saw me sprinting from half a block away and actually waited. She even told me to take a breath and said 'we'll get you there.' But then we hit a snag on Ponce where some construction had a lane blocked and traffic was a mess. I was about to just give up and call my contact to reschedule, but she took a side street I never would have known about and got me there with 5 minutes to spare. I tipped her my last $5 and told her she's a hero. Has anyone else had a public transit moment like that where someone went out of their way for you?

That driver totally turned your whole day around, bet she's a Buckhead regular with those secret routes.

Bet she knew exactly which streets to take cause she lives with that traffic every day.

Gotta wonder how many times she's sat in that same mess before she figured out the shortcuts though, right? Like, there's a difference between knowing the map and living the gridlock every afternoon. Do you think it's mostly just knowing which side streets to take, or does she have some kind of sixth sense for timing the lights too? I mean, that route knowledge has to come from real frustration, not just a GPS.
