The Marta bus detour that doubled my commute but taught me something
Last week I had to get from Decatur to Midtown during a road race that shut down half of Ponce. My usual bus route got rerouted through Kirkwood and I figured I'd just miss my meeting. Instead I spotted a little Mexican grocery store I never knew existed, and the driver was super chatty about how the detour had been running for years on race days. I still got to my appointment 10 minutes late, but honestly that stop for fresh tortillas was worth it. Has anyone else found good spots by taking the long way on Marta?
Funny how a road race messing up your whole morning ends up being the best thing that happened to you. Marta detours are usually where joy goes to die and here you are finding fresh tortillas like you won the lottery. The driver probably sees it all the time too, tourists and locals stumbling onto hidden spots because the city decided to shut down Ponce for a bunch of joggers. Guess the lesson is that getting lost on Marta pays better than the actual route sometimes. Just don't tell too many people about that grocery store or it'll get packed and ruined.
