Unpopular opinion: skip the Beltline and walk the Proctor Creek greenway instead
Everyone in this city tells new folks to spend their Saturday on the Beltline, but after living in Bankhead for 3 years I finally gave up on it last month. I walked from the Maddox Park trailhead to the Bankhead MARTA station and back, about 4 miles total, and saw maybe 6 other people the whole time. No scooters swerving at me, no $14 cocktails, just herons and a clear view of the skyline from the west side. The Beltline is fine if you like crowds and waiting 20 minutes for a table, but it is not the only path in this city and honestly it is not even the best one. The Proctor Creek trail has some rough patches and one stretch near the water plant smells a little, so I get why people sleep on it. Has anyone else found a quieter trail inside the perimeter that actually feels like you left the city?
