Wrote off that Buford Highway taco spot for 2 years because of the line, finally caved and now I get it
I drive past this little taqueria on Buford Highway almost every day and always saw a line out the door around lunch, which honestly made me think it was just hype or a bunch of people with more free time than me. Last Friday I finally parked and waited 25 minutes for a carne asada torta, and it was the best $9 I have spent on food in a long time. The line moves fast because they have 4 people working the grill and they are not messing around. My neighbor who grew up off Shallowford told me the spot has been there since 2004 and the owner still shows up at 5am to prep everything. It made me think about how many other places I skip just because there is a line, which is a dumb reason when you actually say it out loud. What spots around town did you sleep on for a long time before finally trying them?
Waited in a 40 minute line at that BBQ place off 285 for years, kept telling myself it was just people who like standing around. Finally went and the brisket made me feel real stupid about all my big opinions. The kicker is I now drive past on random Tuesdays hoping there is no line, which somehow makes me mad when there is not. Sleeping on a spot because of a line is like refusing free money because the ATM has a wait. My whole avoidant personality is basically just a line I keep standing in for no reason.
