Finally caved and bought the $80 Lisle stubby crowfoot set for those tight spots on a Ford van.

It got the heater core line fitting loose in 5 minutes after I'd fought it for an hour. What's the one tool you bought that felt like cheating?

Hell yes. My cordless ratchet. First time I used it to pull a valve cover, I laughed out loud. It felt like I broke the rules of the universe. That stupid simple tool cuts work time in half on so many jobs.
