Found out brake fluid absorbs moisture way faster than I thought
I was reading the manual on my scan tool last weekend and it said brake fluid can absorb enough moisture in just 2 years to drop the boiling point by over 100 degrees. That explains why my buddy's pedal went soft on a long downhill grade in Colorado last summer. I always changed it every 3 years but now I'm thinking 2 is safer. Has anyone actually tested their fluid with a meter and found it bad sooner than expected?

Yep, "dropping the boiling point by over 100 degrees" is wild when you think about it. I borrowed a test meter from a buddy last year and checked my truck's fluid. It was only 18 months old and already showed a moisture level in the "caution" zone. That was a wake up call. I had been driving on it just fine, but one hard mountain pass with a heavy load and it could have gone bad quick. I started doing it every two years now too, and I'm real casual about checking it with the meter every six months just to see where it sits.

Well @susan130, I honestly used to never think about it until I read this.

@david562 yeah that "caution" zone thing got me checking my battery water levels way more often now haha.
