Got a regular who wants me to ignore a minor leak on his inspection

He's a nice guy and money's tight (so he says), but that slow drip could turn into a big problem down the road. I'm torn between doing him a favor and doing the job right, you know? Where do you draw the line on stuff like this?

Wait, what? You're actually thinking about ignoring a leak? That's wild. Even a slow drip destroys drywall and grows mold fast. I've seen a pinhole leak in a ceiling turn a whole living room floor to mush. You're not doing him a favor, you're buying him a way bigger bill later.

Ugh, Brooke_miller is totally right. My cousin tried to ignore a leaky bathroom faucet (said it was "just a drip") and two months later we found black mold growing behind the vanity. The whole floor was soft. He ended up paying to replace a big part of the subfloor, which cost way more than a simple plumber visit. That slow drip really does wreck everything it touches.

That "favor vs job right" thing hits home. I see the same pattern where a small shortcut now makes a way bigger mess later. It's usually kinder to be straight with people from the start.
