Had a kid tell me EVs don't need mechanics at all last Tuesday
I was replacing a control arm on a 2018 Leaf and some 20-something with a laptop walks up and says 'bet you'll be out of work in 10 years, these things just run forever.' I asked him if he knew how to replace a half shaft or flush a coolant loop. He just stared. Made me realize how many people think 'no oil changes' means nothing ever breaks. Any of you guys run into customers who think EVs are maintenance free?

Man, I had a guy at a parts counter tell me his Tesla didn't need brakes because of regen. I just nodded and handed him a set of pads anyway. Like, okay buddy, you drive in the rain with those bald rotors and let me know how that works out. Reminds me of when my cousin tried to tell me his old Prius never needed transmission fluid - the thing had 180k miles on it and the fluid looked like strawberry yogurt. People hear one thing and think they know the whole story, especially with this EV stuff.
