I started checking the ground wire first on electrical gremlins and it's saved me hours

I mean, I used to chase my tail on weird electrical stuff, like a 2012 Civic that kept blowing the same fuse for the power windows. I checked the switch, the motor, traced the whole harness, nothing. After like 3 hours, I just went and cleaned the ground point under the dash, the one bolted to the A-pillar. Corrosion you could barely see. Problem gone, just like that. Now, if I get an intermittent accessory or a weird sensor reading, I grab my test light and check the ground circuit before I do anything else. It's crazy how often that's the actual issue, not the part itself. Has anyone else found a specific 'check this first' step that cuts down on diagnostic time?

Right? It's always the last place you look, because you finally gave up and checked the stupid ground.

My phone was in the fridge yesterday, I swear it walks away.

Check the freezer too. Left my keys in there once. The cold makes things invisible to your brain somehow. Like your eyes just slide right over them. Happens with the remote in the couch cushions all the time. It's not lost, your mind just refuses to see it.
