Logged my 5,000th oil change this morning and it felt weird
I don't know why but I started counting them about 8 years ago at the shop in Tulsa. 5,000 oil changes is a lot of crushed filters and drain plug gaskets. Most of them were on F-150s and Silverados. It got me thinking about all the little things I've learned along the way. Like how many times I've seen an over-tightened drain plug strip out. Has anyone else kept a running tally on a specific job like that?

You ever notice it's ALWAYS the last guy who torqued it to 80 ft-lbs?

Always the last guy" - yeah, that guy is me about 80% of the time. I swear I torque stuff to spec but somehow bolts still end up tighter than a jar of pickles. Last week I snapped a bolt on my lawn tractor and had to drill it out for three hours. My torque wrench is just a fancy decoration at this point.
