My buddy swore by using a 3/8 inch impact for lug nuts, said it was fine. Snapped a stud on a Ford F-150 last Tuesday.

What did he think was gonna happen? A 3/8 impact is for small stuff, not truck lug nuts. That's a quick way to learn an expensive lesson about torque. Your buddy owes you a stud and his bad advice.

Yeah, that's a solid way to find the weak link in your suspension. Learned the hard way with a breaker bar and a cheater pipe after a similar mess. Mason.brian is right, some lessons just cost more than others.
