Pro tip: a 30 year diesel guy told me to stop greasing lug studs, and he was right
Back when I started at a tire shop in Toledo around 2009, I greased every lug stud out of habit because that's how my uncle did it. An old timer named Ray watched me do a set of 8 on a rusted F-150 and said flat out, "you're setting those wheels up to come loose, torque needs friction, not lube." I argued for about a week, then looked it up and felt dumb. Now I wire brush the studs dry and only chase threads with a tap if they're really chewed up. Any of you still run into guys who swear by a dab of anti-seize on studs?
