PSA: Had 3 comeback jobs in one day last Tuesday and it traced back to one dumb habit
Last Tuesday I had a 2016 Silverado come back for a misfire, a Civic with a coolant leak I supposedly fixed, and a Ford with a brake noise that wasn't there when it left. All three traced back to the same dumb thing: I stopped torquing lug nuts by hand and got lazy with the impact, and on the Silverado I never rechecked the plug gap after the parts store gave me the wrong heat range. Cost me about 5 hours of unpaid rework and one customer who flat out asked if I was new. The coolant leak was a hose clamp I eyeballed instead of using a torque wrench, and it let go at 40 miles. Anyone else had a whole day fall apart because of one shortcut you knew better than to take?
