Saw a brand new Ford Maverick last week with 40k miles and the transmission was already slipping
I was working on a customer's truck at my shop in Austin, and this guy pulls in with a 2022 Ford Maverick. He said the transmission started acting weird around 38k miles, and now at 40k it's slipping bad between 2nd and 3rd gear. I pulled the codes and it's throwing a bunch of solenoid pressure errors. Has anyone else seen these CVT-like issues on the hybrid Mavericks popping up this early?

The Ford Maverick doesn't use a CVT. The hybrid has an eCVT which is a completely different thing, it's a planetary gear setup like a Prius. That eCVT is usually bulletproof because there's no belts or chains to wear out. The gas model has an 8-speed automatic. Either way, the solenoid pressure codes you pulled sound like a valve body issue, not a transmission failure. It's probably a stuck solenoid or a piece of debris in the valve body, which Ford is seeing on these newer 8-speeds. Tell that customer to get it to a dealer fast, those valve bodies are on backorder and can take months.

Are we sure that eCVT is bulletproof though? I've seen a few reports of them failing in the newer Ford hybrids, it's not impossible.
