That cheap torque wrench I bought on Amazon finally gave up on a Ford F-150 last Wednesday
I always thought spending $40 on a torque wrench was fine until it clicked at 90 ft-lbs when I set it for 120. Has anyone else had one fail at the worst possible time?

Sounds like your truck is fine though. A few ft-lbs off on a lug nut isn't going to make the wheels fall off.

Jumping in to say you're totally right. I've got a '97 F150 that I've been wrenching on for years, and I've accidentally torqued lug nuts to like 100 ft-lbs instead of the spec 140 and drove hundreds of miles with no issues. Also had a buddy who did his with a breaker bar and no torque wrench at all, just went "eh, that feels tight" and never had a single problem. The lug nuts are way more forgiving than people make them out to be, especially on older trucks where the studs are thicker. It's not like we're torquing down titanium bolts on a race car or anything.
