Warning: I fought a rusty manifold bolt with a torch and PB Blaster, and one of them was a total waste of my afternoon
Had a 2005 Silverado in the shop on Tuesday with a manifold bolt that was rusted solid, so I soaked it in PB Blaster, waited, and gave it a shot. It rounded off in about two minutes, so I grabbed the torch, warmed the head up nice and even, and it spun right out. The PB Blaster had sat on that bolt for a full day and did basically nothing, while the heat had it out in under five. Maybe the Blaster works better on stuff that isn't cooked onto the block for 20 years. What are you guys reaching for first on rusted exhaust bolts, heat or chemicals?
