Warning: taught a kid to do an oil change Tuesday and he rounded the drain plug with a 12 point socket
Kid grabbed the wrong socket from my box and cranked on that plug like it owed him money. Plug was fused in there from the last guy using an impact, and the corners just rolled off. Took me 45 minutes with a bolt extractor and a torch on a car that should have been a 20 minute job. I keep telling the lube techs at my place in Dayton to use 6 point only on drain plugs, and nobody listens until they strip one. What is your go to trick for grabbing a rounded plug without pulling the pan?
