A night shift at the Phoenix hangar taught me to trust the old manuals more

We had a Garmin G5000 system on a Gulfstream that kept dropping GPS signal. The new techs jumped straight to the fancy diagnostic software, but it showed nothing wrong. I pulled out the original paper manual from 2015 and found a note about a specific ground point behind the main panel. Sure enough, a loose bolt there was the cause. It took 20 minutes to fix after we spent 4 hours on the computer. Now I always check the physical book first, even if the system is new. Does anyone else find the old paper guides have details the digital ones leave out?

Wait, a loose bolt behind the main panel from a note in a 2015 manual... that's wild. The digital version probably just got updated and lost that old footnote. Makes you wonder what else is missing.

Hah, that's why I stick to paper manuals. My 2015 truck's book is full of weird notes like that, @sageadams. Bet my own handwriting will be the next thing to get lost in an update.
