Chasing a ground fault for 4 hours then found a loose screw on the backshell

Last Tuesday on a Gulfstream G550 I spent all afternoon tracking down a intermittent communication fault and finally found the issue was a loose screw on a backshell in the tail cone that was grounding out the coax, has anyone else had a stupid simple fix after a long troubleshooting session?

That loose screw on the backshell sounds like a classic needle in a haystack. How did you finally narrow it down after four hours of chasing it? Did you end up using a time domain reflectometer or just brute force with the multimeter?

Ha! Four hours of my life I'll never get back. @ivan_mason I ended up brute forcing it with the multimeter. TDR would've been overkill for a short like that. Just started disconnecting sections of the harness one by one until the continuity went away. Found the screw rattling around inside a junction box. Thing must've fallen in during assembly.
