Compared pitot-static testing with a manual rig vs an automated box last week
The auto box cost me $4,000 but cut my testing time in half on a 737 and I caught a static leak the manual rig totally missed. Has anyone else found the upfront cost worth it for the accuracy gains?

Gotta push back a little on what @kelly_craig said. The auto box is great but not automatically worth every penny for everyone. I tested one against a manual rig last month and yeah, it found a tiny static port leak I wouldve missed, but I also had to recalibrate the thing twice before I trusted its readings. The upfront cost is a lot, and if you're only doing light aircraft or infrequent checks, a manual rig with a good micron gauge still gets you there. The accuracy gain is real, but only if your shop runs enough heavy checks to make the payout work. I'd say it's worth it if you can justify the 4k, but dont let anyone tell you it's a no brainer for every situation.

Yeah exactly, it's all about your workload making the math work.
