Debate: Is the new Collins Aerospace panel upgrade worth the headache over the legacy Honeywell setup? I stopped by the MRO at Paine Field last week and noticed something.
I was at the Everett facility last Tuesday and saw two Gulfstream G550s side by side. One had the new Collins Pro Line Fusion retrofit, the other was running the older Honeywell Primus Epic. The Collins install looked cleaner but the tech told me it took 3 extra days for software validation. Is the extra time worth the better display resolution, or are we just adding complexity for a minor upgrade? Anyone here done both installs and have a preference?

Three extra days for slightly prettier screens, that's a real winner.

I read somewhere that the extra days were actually for a last-minute fix to the battery drain issue in the beta. I guess they decided to throw in the visual updates while they were at it. But honestly, I'm still not sold on waiting until Thursday for something that could've been ready Monday. The whole thing feels like a marketing move to build hype, not a real technical need. If they'd just been upfront about the delay instead of dressing it up as "extra polish," I'd be less annoyed. At least now I know to check my settings before the update drops so I don't lose another hour to screenshots.

Yeah, "slightly prettier screens" really sums it up. I feel you, it's hard to get excited about a wait for that.
