Heard a junior tech say 'it's just wires' today

Was showing a new guy around the panel shop and he waved off a wiring diagram saying it's just wires. I told him to trace out the 28V DC feed for the autopilot servo. He spent 20 minutes chasing the wrong pin because he skipped reading the notes. I think a lot of people don't realize how many cross-connects are buried in those diagrams. Anyone else have a moment where a simple comment made you rethink how you teach stuff?

Fair point though, if the guy was any good he'd have figured it out anyway in five minutes flat.

Haha yeah "fair point" maybe if he read the damn notes first lol. My buddy Marcus had a new guy talk over him about a PLC rack, said he'd been "doing this since high school." Spent an hour trying to figure out why his motor wouldn't start, turned out he forgot to jumper the safety relay. Some people.

Done that exact thing before. Spent two hours chasing a phantom fault. Was just a blown fuse I forgot to check. Real humbling moment.
