I spent 6 months chasing a squawk on the wrong side of the rack because I trusted the write-up instead of the wire
Had a flap asymmetry fault on a King Air that kept coming back every 3 or 4 flights, and the log said the previous shop already swapped the position sensor twice. I kept pulling the left rack, checking pots, re-pinning cannon plugs, and it would pass on the ground every single time. Last Thursday I stayed late in the hangar and actually traced the harness pin to pin with a Fluke, and it turned out a chafed wire in the right wing root was shorting to the spar when the wing flexed in flight. Six months of grabbing the wrong rack because I read the logbook like it was gospel instead of verifying the circuit myself. Cost the company probably 40 man hours total, and that one was on me. How do you guys handle write-ups that already claim a fix was done, do you still run the full check or trust the sign-off?
