I used to think a quick visual check was enough for a nav light circuit.

After a plane came back for the same issue twice, my lead told me to always use the meter and check for voltage drop under load, not just continuity. Anyone else get burned by trusting a simple continuity check on a high-draw system?

Learned that one the hard way too.

Yeah, that's a rough lesson to learn the hard way. I once chased a landing light gremlin for a week with just a continuity check, felt like a total genius when the bulb lit up on the bench. Put it all back together, flipped the switch, and got a dim glow that made a candle look bright. My own face was probably brighter. Voltage drop under load is the only real test, like your lead said. Sounds like @jordan_webb and I both had to fry our pride on that same lesson. Makes you triple-check everything now, doesn't it?

Wait, they sent a plane back up twice for a bad nav light?
