Showerthought: my 20 year old solder iron finally gave out mid job, and the new one feels wrong in my hand
Had a pitot static leak check on an A320 last Thursday at our hangar in Burbank when my soldering iron just stopped heating, so I grabbed the shop's newer digital station to finish the connector pins. The temp readout said 700 but the thing ran cold, and I ended up redoing two pins that looked fine until I tugged on them. Did the old Weller-style irons just hold heat better, or am I just too set in my ways to trust a screen over a dial?
