Chat with a CDT thru-hiker made me rethink my favorite trail
I was at a gear shop in Bend last weekend and this guy who just finished the Continental Divide Trail told me he thought the Pacific Crest Trail was overrated. He said the desert stretches felt like a treadmill and the snow in Washington was just stress, not beauty. It hit different because I've been singing the PCT's praises for 7 years after my 2018 thru-hike, 2,650 miles of it. But he had a point, the CDT gave him 10 days without seeing another person, which I never got on the PCT. Has anyone else switched loyalties after talking to someone who walked a rival route?
