Figured out why my backpack straps kept loosening after 4 days on the Appalachian Trail

I spent 8 months thinking I just had a cheap pack or bad technique, but it turned out I was threading the sternum strap buckle wrong the whole time. Last Saturday on a quick overnight near Grayson Highlands I watched a guy clip his in 3 seconds and it clicked. Has anyone else had a tiny gear adjustment fix a huge frustration?

Ha, yeah I used to think sternum straps were mostly just for comfort. Never thought they could be the reason my whole setup was slipping. Took me way too long to realize I was doing it wrong too.
