Finally fixed my water crossing snafu on the PCT, took 4 tries
Kept slipping on wet granite slabs near Muir Pass, so I spent way too long testing different sole patterns on my trail runners. It took about 3 months of afternoon creek crossings in the Sierras before I realized I just needed to slow my stride and use trekking poles more deliberately. Anyone else ever obsess over gear when the real fix was just adjusting your footwork?

Did you try swapping your soles for something stickier like Stealth rubber, or was it purely the footwork that changed things? I had the same fight on wet rock near Glacier Peak, and honestly it was 80% my stride and 20% my shoes, once I started planting my poles ahead of my feet and moving like a slow motion zombie it all clicked. Now I just remind myself that rushing over slick stone is the fastest way to end up in the creek.
