Found a way around the permit lottery for the Enchantments

I kept losing the lottery for the Enchantments in Washington, so I tried a different approach. I checked for cancellations every morning at 7am for two weeks straight. Snagged a permit for a Tuesday in late September, which is way easier than the summer dates. Has anyone else had luck with the cancellation route for tough permits?

Keep refreshing at odd hours, people drop permits late at night too.

Hang on, @kelly_craig are you saying late night drops are actually common or just a random thing you've seen? I'm curious because I got mine at 7am sharp, not late night. But you're probably right, people get drunk and cancel permits at 2am. Did you actually snag one that way or just hear about it? Trying to figure out if I got lucky or if there's a real pattern here.
