Got chased by a llama on the John Muir Trail near Reds Meadow
It charged my tent at 6am because I left a bag of trail mix out, I grabbed my trekking poles and backed away slow, but honestly I packed up camp in like 4 minutes flat, anyone else had livestock decide your route for you?

Damn right you booked it, that's the smart move. Those pack llamas near Reds Meadow are used to hikers and have zero fear, they'll push right through your setup if they smell anything. Next time hang your food bag way up high or use a bear canister even if the regs don't require it, because a llama nose can reach a lot more than you think. Also, keep your poles out before you go to sleep, not buried in the tent, because you don't want to fumble for them when a 400 pound animal is staring at you. And yeah, livestock always wins the route argument, so just let them have the trail and wait five minutes, they move on when they get bored.
