Hot take: a guy on the trail told me my food bag weighed too much and he was right
Honestly I was packing for the Eagle Rock loop in Arkansas and my buddy picked up my bear bag and said "that thing weighs more than your tent." I got home and put it on the kitchen scale, 9.4 pounds for 4 days. I cut the canned stuff and the extra trail mix and got it down to 6.2 pounds, and my knees were way happier on the next trip. Tbh I still pack a little heavy on snacks, but what's the one food item you always cut to save weight?
Dropping the canned chili was my big one, those things are sneaky heavy. Now I just bring dry beans and let them soak while I hike, saves a ton of weight.
