Hot take: The PCT is overrated for solo hikers these days

I did 200 miles of the John Muir Trail last summer and honestly had a better time than my whole PCT section hike from Kennedy Meadows. Too many people treating the PCT like a social media backdrop now, you know? Anyone else feel like the JMT delivers better scenery with half the crowds?

The JMT is a tiny slice of what the PCT offers, and calling it a better experience ignores the whole point of a long trail hike. The PCT gives you that sense of real distance and accomplishment over months, not just a couple weeks in one scenic corridor. If crowds bother you that much, try starting earlier or later in the season instead of blaming the trail.

@cameronn62 disagree there, the Sierra is the heart of the whole PCT experience, not just a scenic corridor.
