Met a guy on the Colorado Trail who carried a cast iron pan for 200 miles
He told me he brought it just for frying up fresh trout he caught, and I watched him pull out a collapsible fishing rod from his pack like it was the most normal thing in the world, has anyone else met someone with a ridiculous luxury item on trail?

Nah, that pan is totally worth it for fresh trout every night.

Honest question, how did he actually manage to clean that pan without wasting water or stinking up his whole pack? Seems like an easy way to attract every bear within ten miles once that fish grease gets on everything. Did he at least have a solid plan for that part, or was he just hoping for the best?
