I mean come on, it's just a hike not a life or death mission. You probably could have figured it out yourself without some random telling you what to do.

Oh come ON, it's not just a casual stroll in the park. That trail has some REAL steep sections and loose rocks where if you slip, you're gonna have a bad time. People get hurt out there every year because they think they can just wing it. Having someone who knows the trail give you some basic tips is smart, not dumb. It's about being safe and not ruining your day or someone else's rescue efforts.
