The hidden blowdown on the Ozark Trail section near Taum Sauk

I hiked the Ozark Trail through the Taum Sauk section last month and about 6 miles in I hit a stretch where trees were down across the trail every 50 feet. Had to climb over or go around like 30 of them in one mile. It looked like no trail crew had been through there since a storm maybe a year ago. Anyone else run into sections that just didnt get cleared and had to turn back?

Turning back seems extreme, that sounds like a fun challenge to me.

Right? I get that it sounds like a fun challenge until you actually try it. My leg muscles would probably file a formal complaint and quit on the spot. Last time I tried something like this, I got lost for four hours and ended up eating a granola bar I found in my pocket from 2019. Definitely not my finest navigational moment. But hey, if you go for it, please pack some actual snacks and maybe a compass. I'll just live vicariously through your story from here.

Did you try going around the whole mess or just push through like I did near Huzzah last year?
