Vent: My water filter failed 8 miles into the John Muir Trail
I was past Muir Trail Ranch near the San Joaquin River crossing when my trusty Squeeze filter just stopped pushing water through. The ceramic element was completely clogged with silt from that silty creek I filtered at. Had to boil all my water using my little titanium pot for the next 3 days until I hit Red's Meadow. Anyone else had a filter conk out on them mid-trip?

Yeah @sarah_mason, did you have to carry extra fuel for boiling?

Honestly I used to be all about stoves too, but that comment about losing the Squeeze to Sierra silt made me rethink things. Now I just filter my water and save the hassle of extra fuel.
