Why does nobody warn you that the Sierra High Route above 11,000 feet turns a 'fun week' into a survival test?
Last August my buddy and I did 6 days from Road's End to Taboose Pass and got hammered by an unforecasted hail storm at 11,500 feet that soaked every layer we had, and by day 3 we were rationing one Snickers bar each because the passes took twice as long as the map said, so has anyone else found a route where the elevation profile on paper looks nothing like the actual suffering?
