Wrote off trekking poles for years, then my knees voted in Colorado
I hiked the Lost Creek Wilderness loop near Bailey last August with a 38 pound pack and no poles, and by mile 9 my knees were done. A guy at the trailhead offered me his spare pair for the climb out and I felt stupid for how much easier it was. I bought a cheap pair from a gear shop in Denver on the drive home. Anyone else switch sides on poles after swearing they were for old people?
