Just realized my new string lights make the patio feel like a different room
I finally got around to hanging up the solar powered ones I bought six months ago, and last night we ate dinner out there for the first time this year. It was so cozy we just sat and talked for an extra hour. Anyone have tips for keeping the squirrels from chewing on the wires?

Oh the squirrel thing is so real. I ended up running my wires through clear plastic tubing from the hardware store, the kind for drip lines. It was a bit of a pain to thread everything through but they totally lost interest after that. The bitter apple spray they sell for pets works for a little while too, but you have to reapply it after it rains.

Honestly the bitter apple spray thing made me laugh because I tried it on my own car once for a different reason. I had a problem with a neighbor's cat sleeping on my hood and leaving scratches so I figured why not try the spray. It worked for about two days until the cat just decided it didn't care anymore and went back to napping there. Ngl animals seem to have a sixth sense for when you're trying to outsmart them, they just wait you out until you give up or forget to reapply.
