Lined my patio pavers with steel edging instead of plastic and it actually stayed straight through the winter

I redid my back patio last fall in Nashville and used those cheap plastic edging strips like everyone does. By February half of them had popped up or warped from frost heave. I spent a whole weekend last month pulling them all out and putting in 12 gauge steel edging stakes. Cost me about 80 bucks for 50 feet but I dug the trench 4 inches deep and hammered the spikes in good. We had a hard freeze last week and not a single paver moved. Has anyone else switched to metal or do yall just reset the plastic every spring?

Is 12 gauge thick enough to hold up against a lawnmower?

Oh @daniel474, that's a rough way to find out - hope your mower's ok!
