My patio umbrella took 3 weekends to finally stay put

I bought one of those cantilever umbrellas from a big box store in Phoenix and thought it would take an afternoon to set up. Turns out the base needed 400 pounds of sandbags just to keep it from tipping in a light breeze. Then the tilt mechanism kept slipping, so I had to take it apart twice and tighten every bolt with a socket wrench. By the third weekend I had it anchored to my deck with two steel brackets, but it still wobbles a bit when the wind picks up. Has anyone else dealt with a top-heavy umbrella that just refuses to stay stable without looking like a construction site?

Swapped the sandbags for those interlocking concrete pavers from the hardware store, stacked them two deep in the base. Instead of fighting the tilt mechanism I just drilled a pin through the arm so it locks in one position. Then I bolted a ratchet strap around the pole to a heavy deck post, not the brackets you used, and that killed 90% of the wobble. Still not perfect in a monsoon gust but it doesn't look like a rigged carnival ride anymore.
