My string light sagging secret finally clicked after a storm in Tulsa

I used to hang string lights super tight, thinking that looked clean. Last spring a thunderstorm in Tulsa snapped two wires right at the hook because there was zero give. My neighbor came out and showed me his, he leaves a droop in every span and uses turnbuckles to adjust. Now I hang mine loose and let the weight stretch them, theyve survived three storms since and still look good. Anyone else make this mistake or is it just me and my 60 foot run?.
