My string lights finally stopped sagging after 2 years of fighting them

Last weekend I redid the patio lights for the third time since 2022. The first two attempts used those cheap plastic hooks from the hardware store, and every storm or windy day had them drooping into the herb planter. I switched to stainless steel eye screws with a turnbuckle on each corner, about $14 total at the local Ace in Tulsa. Now the line is drum tight and the sag is gone, but I'm wondering if anyone else has a better way to secure them without drilling into the fascia every time. Has anyone tried those magnetic clips on a metal roof instead?

The turnbuckle setup is solid, but that metal roof idea is a trap. Magnetic clips might hold for a week, then a gust hits and you're fishing lights out of the bushes again. The fascia screws are ugly and permanent, sure, but they're also the only thing that won't let you down when it matters. You could try those adhesive cable mounts rated for outdoor use, but they bake out in the sun after one summer here. Drilling small holes and patching them later beats redoing the whole line every few months. Honestly, once you've got it drum tight with turnbuckles, that's the endgame. Leave it alone.
