Neighbor told me my patio was draining wrong, saved me a mess next spring

My neighbor came over last week while I was pouring a concrete pad for my new patio. He pointed out I had the slope going toward the house foundation. I had to bust up a whole weekend of work and redo it sloping away. Took me an extra 8 hours but he showed me the right angle to aim for. Has anyone else had a neighbor catch a mistake before it was too late?

That neighbor probably saved you a couple thousand bucks in foundation repairs down the road. How did you break up the old concrete - sledgehammer or did you rent a jackhammer? Made that mistake once with a sledge on a 4 inch slab and my arms were sore for a week. The jackhammer was worth the rental fee even if it felt like overkill at the time.

I rented a jackhammer after my first patio slab cracked within a year.
