PSA: That $200 misting system I installed was a total waste
Bought one of those fancy MistCool kits online last summer for around $200. Hooked it up on my patio in Phoenix. Worked great for about two weeks then the nozzles kept clogging from our hard water. I should have just bought a cheap oscillating fan for $30. Anyone else dump money into a cooling system that failed?

Hey, I switched to a cheap fan in my yard and it works way better honestly.

Yeah I feel you on that. That line about the wet sheet on the swamp cooler really hit home because I did basically the same thing last summer. I spent like 150 bucks on a misting wand that just dripped everywhere and left white crust on my concrete. Finally I just put a wet towel over a box fan and it actually made the air feel cooler than that overpriced gadget ever did.

My neighbor up the street tried one of those misting setups last summer in Tucson. He spent about three weekends fiddling with it and ended up with a puddle under his hose bib and a lot of frustration. The funny thing is, he finally just hung a wet sheet in front of his swamp cooler and said it cooled the whole patio better than the mister ever did. I think sometimes we overthink these things when a simple solution works fine.
