Saw a neighbor use patio stones as pizza oven flooring last weekend

I was walking my dog through the cul-de-sac and noticed a guy had laid flat paving stones inside his DIY brick oven. He said the stones hold heat way better than regular firebrick and cost just $2 each at a local landscape supply. Has anyone else tried using leftover patio material for a backyard oven build?

@the_eric probably has the same ones I found at the Habitat ReStore for a buck each.

That "holds heat way better" part is real. My buddy Pat slapped some old patio slabs in his oven three years ago and they're still cracking but holding steady, he just says the heat spread is more even now.
